History
- January: TCTenerife BEGINS GENERAL LOADING OPERATIONS at Puerto de Granadilla de Abona with the Jumbo Vision ship scale.
- January: TCTenerife installs 99 kWp PHOTOVOLTAIC solar plant. As a measure to mitigate the environmental impact caused by the power consumption incurred for the Terminal’s activities, a photovoltaic solar plant is installed for self-consumption that will allow for savings of 165,252 kWp/year and a reduction in Co2 emissions of 67.75 tons per year.
- September: TCTenerife installs a SOUND MEASUREMENT STATION that records the emissions generated by the activity 24 hours a day and 365 days a year in real time, so that whenever they exceed the number of Decibels indicated in the standard, an alarm sounds or a notice is issued to investigate and carry out the measures necessary when it is viable to do so.
- November: After two years of development, TCTenerife updates its operating system and the new CATOS Operating system enters production
- November: TCTenerife implements WHITE NOISE: In order to mitigate the noise pollution generated by the operations of the machinery at our Terminal, when it is operating, “White Noise” is played in the background, notably reducing the noise pollution. Currently installed on the forklifts, including the Reachsteaker and RTG, and we’re in the process of studying the STSs.
- September 2020. TCTenerife commences use of the second STS crane upon completion of the retrofit. Both STSs operate successfully.
- June 2020. TCTenerife puts the first of the two STS cranes in operation after the engineering and maintenance personnel of TCTenerife complete the retrofit with the supervision of ABB.
- September: TCTenerife signs a contract with ABB for the retrofitting of two Shore to Shore (STS) cranes in order to modernize and update the ACS600 MultiDrive Modules, replacing them with new ACS880 models. Investment of 900,000€
- January: TCTenerife receives 1 new TERBERG tractor head.
- Diciembre: TCTenerife pone a disposición 120 nuevas tomas de reefers, elevando la capacidad a 644
- Noviembre: TCTenerife recibe 2 nuevas cabezas tractoras TERBERG
- Octubre: TCTenerife recibe 2 nuevas reach stackers HYSTER
- Mayo: TCTenerife carga 3.407 contenedores, 6.294 TEUS siendo la mayor operación de contenedores realizada en Tenerife en una única escala. El buque fue el MSC KARLSKRONA, operado por la naviera MAERSK
- Abril: TCTenerife supera el rendimiento de 54 contenedores por hora de grúa en la escala del buque SEASPAN RIO DE JANEIRO, operado por la naviera MAERSK
- October: The Port Authority agrees to grant TCTenerife an extension in the term of the concession to April 2054
- August: TCTenerife starts up international container transshipping operations at Puerto de Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the GUAYAQUIL ship scale, operated by the MAERSK shipping line
- December: TCTenerife consolidates its position as the leading terminal in Santa Cruz de Tenerife
- May: TCTenerife invests in the soundproofing of the transformer substation, obtaining the 2016 Environment award from the OHL group
- December: TCTenerife receives a License from the Port Authority to provide port stevedoring services for general cargo in the entire province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
- November: Receipt of three new STS Super Post-Panamax cranes
- January: TCTenerife is recognized as the Most Innovative Company of OHL CONCESIONES
- December: Terminal adaptation work is performed, completing the startup of service of 150,000 m2 for container storage

“It is a privilege for me to welcome you to the Tenerife Containers Terminal (TCTenerife).
Through these lines we would like to let you know what our terminal, TCTenerife, has to offer, and we hope you find this information of interest for the development of your future business through a modern logistics platform that is equipped with last generation port machinery.
The advantageous location of the Tenerife port has allowed it to always be involved with maritime trade, particularly as a meeting point between Europe, America and Africa, as well as, not any less importantly, as the base for the provisioning in the Atlantic Ocean.
In light of this, many initiatives have been carried out to encourage modernization and increased activities at our port and some of these achievements include the concession that has provided a new and better equipped containers terminal that meets the current needs of the port and this traffic in particular.
This initiative represented a significant challenge for the companies that were the original concession holders for the terminal, resulting in the creation of the Tenerife Containers Terminal (TCTenerife). Since 2018, the terminal has been fully owned by Grupo Aleatica. The terminal consists of 1 dock close to 700 meters in length, and a surface area of over 150,000 square meters, sufficient berthing line and surface area to handle not only traffic of merchandise imports/exports, but also the transshipping of containers.
